At the age of only 28, Alessandro Bonato has been the youngest Principal Conductor of the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana in their history, a position that he held for two years until June 2022.

Maestro Bonato gained the attention of the music world winning the third prize at the Malko International Competition in Copenhagen at the age of 23. Born in Verona, he studied violin and later composition; from 2013 he took conducting lessons with Pier Carlo Orizio, Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli and Donato Renzetti. In March 2016 Bonato made his debut as professional conductor at the Royal Opera House of Muscat with The Magic Flute. In March 2019 he conducted a production of La cambiale di matrimonio in Pesaro celebrating the 150th anniversary of the death of Gioachino Rossini.

In August 2022 he made a successful debut at the Macerata Opera Festival conducting a new production of The Barber of Seville, unanimously acclaimed by the public and the press. With the same title Alessandro Bonato also made his debut at the summer season of Arena di Verona. During the season 2022/23 he made his debut in Brescia, Cremona, Pavia, Como and Pisa in the frame of the Circuito Lirico Lombardo with a new production of Norma with huge critical acclaim.

Alessandro Bonato’s symphonic activity is equally developed, and he has conducted orchestras such as the Filarmonica della Scala, the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, the Toscanini Orchestra and the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Italy, as well as the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra abroad. In January 2023 he made his symphonic debut in Japan conducting the Ensemble Kanazawa with Mao Fujita as soloist in an all-Mozart program, followed by the debut with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. During the following seasons he returned to the Toscanini Orchestra as well as the Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan and made his debuts with the Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, with the Denmark Philharmonic Orchestra as well as with the Bursa Symphony Orchestra and the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra in Turkey.

In summer 2023 he made his debut at the Arena di Verona conducting Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, staged by Hugo De Ana, which will be later broadcasted by RAI. He also appeared for the first time in the summer season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducting the Messa di Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi, in a project featuring the Orchestra of the Italian Conservatories, the Santa Cecilia Chorus and a vocal quartet from the Accademia della Scala. In September 2023 Alessandro Bonato made his debut in France appearing at the Festival “Les Nuits Romantiques” in a program dedicated to Verdi at the helm of the Orchestra dell’Accademia della Scala.

Future engagements include the debut with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducting the Messa di Requiem by Verdi in November 2024.

During the pandemic, Alessandro Bonato realized several very successful digital projects dedicated to the music education of the young generations.
