About
Shmagi began learning music at the age of seven. He is a laureate of national and international competitions and festivals in both piano and composition.
2022 – First National Competition of Composers – 2nd place for the piano concerto “Dedication to Alban Berg”.
2021 – Bidzina Kvernadze International Composer Competition – first prize.
2021 – T. Amirejibi Borjomi International Piano Competition – 2nd place and special prize of the Tbilisi Conservatoire: “For the best performance of a work by Chopin”.
2021 – O. Taktakishvili International Competition – first place and special prize: “Prize for the best performance of the romantic period”.
2019 – I. S. Bach International Piano Competition – First Prize.
2018 – O. Taktakishvili International Composition Competition – first prize.
Since 2023, he has been a scholarship holder of the Toradze Foundation. The same year, he was accepted to two prestigious universities of Europe: the Hans Eisler Conservatory in Berlin and the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. Currently, he continues his studies in Vienna under the guidance of Professor Stefan Arnold.
He was born on October 7, 2004, in Kvareli. He received his first musical education at the 17th Music School of Tbilisi. He later joined the piano section of Z. Paliashvili Central Music School, under the guidance of the esteemed teacher Veka Svanidze in the “Decade of Talents.” Additionally, he received composition instruction from Associate Professor Maka Virsaladze.
