About

The Female and Male Student Choirs of the University of Chant are ensembles dedicated to the performance of Georgian traditional music, with the mission of preserving and developing centuries-old Georgian traditional chants and folk songs. One of their main priorities is participation in liturgical services and the revival of lesser-known examples from Georgian chant schools.

The choir members are students of the University of Chant. Since their establishment, the choirs have been actively engaged in concert activities. Among their notable appearances are the International Symposium on Traditional Polyphony (Georgia), the festival “Parbeg Iaivelis” (Lithuania), “Les Buskers de Neuchâtel” (Switzerland), the 10th “International Art Days” (Turkey), a solo concert at the University of Notre Dame (USA) as part of a student exchange program, the festival “Antiche Radici” (Italy), and others.

The choirs also frequently participate in concerts organized across various regions of Georgia and in liturgical services held in different dioceses. They have recorded two audio albums.

The choirs are currently directed by University of Chant graduates Anna Lolashvili and Sergo Urushadze.
